Job summary

University of Massachusetts Boston seeks a Network Security Operations Engineer to manage and improve the university's network security infrastructure. You will own firewall services, VPN, NAC, and security event monitoring within the NSOC, coordinating with ISO and Network Services to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, Networking, or related field; 5+ years of hands-on network/security ops experience.
• Experience administering enterprise firewall platforms in production.
• Experience with network segmentation, VPN, and NAC.
• Experience using enterprise SIEM for monitoring and incident response.
• Experience in technical incident response within enterprise environments.
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex network security issues.
• Experience centrally managing DNS, DHCP, and IPAM (DDI).
• Experience implementing DNS security against threats.

Responsibilities

• Lead NSOC coordination for network security incidents and response.
• Maintain secure firewall policies and configurations to protect university resources.
• Maintain network segmentation, VPN, and NAC with Network Services.
• Analyse and coordinate response to network security events and alerts.
• Maintain operational docs to support continuity, audits, and knowledge transfer.
• Provide after-hours support for critical security events and upgrades.
• Mentor student employees supporting security operations.
• Contribute to security risk assessments and remediation planning.
