UMass Boston is seeking a Network Security Operations Engineer to own enterprise firewall services, VPN, and NAC, while leading NSOC monitoring and incident response across on‑premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.

You will collaborate with Infrastructure, Network Services, and ISO to strengthen security, improve operational maturity, and deliver reliable security services to the university community. Mentoring student staff is part of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Networking, or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in network and security operations.
• Operational experience administering enterprise firewall platforms and security controls.
• Experience using SIEM platforms for monitoring and incident response.
• Experience participating in technical incident response within enterprise environments.

Responsabilités

• Lead coordination of network security incidents at NSOC, overseeing monitoring, investigation, and response.
• Maintain secure firewall policies and configurations to protect resources.
• Maintain security of network segmentation, VPN, and NAC in partnership with Network Services.
• Analyze, investigate, and coordinate response to network security events and alerts.
• Maintain operational documentation supporting continuity, DR, audits, and knowledge transfer.
• Provide after-hours support for critical security events and network upgrades.
• Develop and maintain network status dashboards and service bulletins.
