Job summary

The John Stewart Company in California is seeking a maintenance technician to perform preventative, emergency, cosmetic and routine maintenance along with regular inspections. The role emphasizes safe work practices, problem solving, and time management, and includes a 2-bedroom on-site unit.

You will schedule work orders, coordinate with residents, perform necessary repairs, and be on-call for weekends. Requires 2+ years in apartment maintenance and fluent English; REAC knowledge a plus.

Qualifications

• Must be able to function in on-call capacity.
• Basic mathematical and computer skills; fluent English. Bilingual a plus.
• Very good time management skills.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience performing maintenance tasks in an apartment development or comparable position.
• Knowledge in REAC and other regulatory inspections is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Schedules and responds to work orders, including follow-ups with residents and management.
• Ensures preventative maintenance scheduling and performance is up to date.
• Performs cosmetic and routine maintenance throughout the community.
• Handles unit turnovers and prepares for new move-ins, meeting deadlines.
• Conducts move-in and move-out inspections.
• Performs quarterly inspections with PM.
• Repairs plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry and masonry as needed.
• Coordinates, schedules and oversees vendor work with the Property Manager.
• On-call for off-shift and weekend emergency maintenance coverage.
