Job summary

The John Stewart Company in California is seeking a full-time on-call Maintenance Technician to perform a wide range of repairs and inspections across our apartment communities. The role emphasizes safe work practices, troubleshooting, and strong customer service.

Responsibilities include responding to work orders, preventive maintenance, unit turnovers, and coordinating with the Property Manager and vendors.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' maintenance experience in an apartment development or similar position.
• Must be able to function in an on-call capacity and have reliable transportation.
• Fluency in English; bilingual a plus.
• Knowledge of REAC and other regulatory inspections is a plus.
• Experience with work orders, preventative maintenance and TCAC inspections is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and respond to work orders, coordinating with residents and management as needed.
• Insure preventative maintenance scheduling and performance is up to date.
• Cosmetic and routine maintenance throughout the community.
• Unit turnovers and preparations for new move-ins conducted and meet deadlines.
• Conduct Move in and Move out inspections.
• Conduct quarterly inspections with PM.
• Perform plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry and masonry repairs as needed.
• Coordinate, schedule and oversee vendor work with the Property Manager.
• Be on-call for off-shift and weekend emergency maintenance coverage as scheduled.
