Job summary

We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Handy Porter to maintain the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of a commercial property. The ideal candidate will have experience with janitorial work and basic building maintenance and repairs.

Responsibilities include cleaning, minor repairs, plumbing assistance, safety inspections, and assisting with snow and ice removal. Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs and operate basic tools and work order systems.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License with a reliable driving record.
• Flexibility to be on call for urgent maintenance needs.
• Hands-on experience using basic hand/power tools and small commercial/mechanical equipment.
• Physical ability to regularly lift and carry items up to 75 lbs.
• Proficient with work order management systems and basic computer skills.
• Functional literacy and numeracy skills to inspect delivery notes, double-check measurements, and track inventory.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning of common areas, restrooms, hallways, offices, and other assigned spaces.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and remove trash.
• Complete minor repairs, including painting, patching walls, replacing light bulbs, and assembling or moving furniture.
• Assist with basic plumbing repairs, such as unclogging toilets and addressing minor leaks.
• Inspect the property and report maintenance or safety concerns.
• Maintain entrances, sidewalks, parking areas, and exterior grounds.
• Set up rooms or common areas as requested.
• Keep tools, equipment, and supply areas clean and organized.
• Respond promptly to work orders and requests from management.
• Follow all company and property safety procedures.
• Assist with snow and ice removal when required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
