Job summary

Eastern Janitorial Company is seeking a dependable Handy Porter to maintain cleanliness, safety, and the overall appearance of a commercial property. The role includes cleaning, light repairs, and basic maintenance tasks on a busy site.

You will handle rooms setup, report safety concerns, and assist with snow/ice removal as needed, using basic tools and work-order software. Strong English communication and a high school diploma are required.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver's License required.
• Flexibility to be on call for urgent maintenance needs.
• Hands-on experience with basic hand/power tools and small commercial/mechanical equipment.
• Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs regularly.
• Proficiency with work order systems and basic computer skills.
• Literacy and numeracy skills to inspect delivery notes, double-check measurements, and track inventory.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning of common areas, restrooms, hallways, offices, and other assigned spaces.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and remove trash.
• Complete minor repairs, including painting, patching walls, replacing light bulbs, and assembling or moving furniture.
• Assist with basic plumbing repairs, such as unclogging toilets and addressing minor leaks.
• Inspect the property and report maintenance or safety concerns.
• Maintain entrances, sidewalks, parking areas, and exterior grounds.
• Set up rooms or common areas as requested.
• Keep tools, equipment, and supply areas clean and organized.
• Respond promptly to work orders and requests from management.
• Follow all company and property safety procedures.
• Assist with snow and ice removal when required.
• Perform other duties as assigned
