Job summary

City of Corvallis is seeking on-call Substitute Library Clerks to support branch and delivery operations across Corvallis, Philomath, Alsea and Monroe. Positions have no regular schedule and no guarantee of hours, and incumbents may work at any library location or through delivery services.

Typical duties include circulation, answering questions, shelving, assisting patrons with locating materials, and using library technology.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Two years of library and/or clerical experience preferred.
Excellent customer service skills and ability to assist diverse patrons.

Responsibilities

Performs circulation functions and answers patron questions for general information about the Library and its services.
Checks items in and out, collects fines, issues library cards and places holds.
Shelves books and other library materials.
Answers patron questions and makes referrals to librarians and other resources.
Assists patrons in locating materials and instructs use of print, non-print, and electronic resources.
Explains library policy and enforces conduct rules.
May assist with staffing programs and outreach activities.
May assist patrons with library technology.
