Job summary

NCW Libraries in Waterville, ME is seeking a Library Assistant for on-call substitute coverage. The role supports daily branch operations, assists patrons, issues library cards, checks materials in and out, and performs related tasks under supervision.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and customer service experience; bilingual English/Spanish is preferred. Evening and weekend shifts may be required, with up to 69 hours per month and pay at $17.99 per hour, plus WA State sick

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, courteous support to internal and external customers.
• Pulls, sorts and processes circulation materials and supplies, assesses materials for weeding, performs data entry for transactions.
• Processes returned circulation materials, requests, and fills orders; receives payments and answers reference questions.
• Provides guidance with technological issues and assists patrons with electronic equipment and databases.
• Resolves patron complaints or challenges and promotes library advocacy.
