Job summary

NCW Libraries is seeking a Library Assistant for an on-call substitute position. Responsibilities include customer service, issuing library cards, and assisting patrons with circulation and tech questions.

Work is evening and weekend flexible, with duties under the supervision of Branch staff. Requires high school diploma or GED and prior customer service experience; bilingual skills are a plus. Benefits include WA state sick leave accruals.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Customer service experience required.
• Fluency in English preferred; bilingual abilities (English/Spanish) helpful.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, courteous support to patrons and staff.
• Assist with check-in/check-out, card issuance, and circulation processes.
• Troubleshoot basic technology issues and assist patrons with devices and databases.
• Support branch operations, opening/closing procedures, and inventory tasks.
• Promote a positive, inclusive library environment and assist with patron inquiries.
