Job summary

YWCA Northeast Kansas is seeking a PRN Hospital Advocate to provide on-call, crisis-responsive advocacy during SANEs/forensic examinations. This role acts as the primary responder at medical facilities, offering survivor-centered, trauma-informed support to individuals affected by sexual violence.

Working in a PRN capacity, the advocate covers designated on-call shifts and responds when activated, ensuring timely emotional support, information, and connections to services during acute moments in

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals in crisis.
• Commitment to survivor-centered, trauma-informed advocacy practices.
• Ability to work independently and respond effectively in high-pressure situations.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries.
• Must be punctual and reliable.
• Commitment to relation­ship building and to working as part of a team, with initiative.

Responsibilities

• Respond in person to hospital advocacy needs.
• Provide immediate, survivor-centered, trauma-informed advocacy during SANEs/forensic exams.
• Offer emotional support, information sharing and rights/options guidance.
• Document all client interactions and complete logs/reports.
• Collaborate with shelter and program staff to coordinate service delivery.
• Maintain knowledge of services and referrals for clients.
• Participate in required trainings and readiness to respond in crises.
• Complete timekeeping and administrative duties.
