Job summary

Amedisys, part of the Optum family, is seeking a Registered Nurse for Hospice On-Call after hours. The role covers Friday, Saturday and Sunday 5p–8a, providing on-call nursing support, triage, and coordination with physicians to deliver timely care.

Responsibilities include assessing patients by phone or visits, educating patients and caregivers, and documenting all decisions. Requirements: RN license in the relevant state, CPR, 1+ year nursing experience, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Current RN license for the state(s) you are assigned to work.
• Current CPR certification.
• 1+ year of nursing experience, preferably in hospice, home health, or acute care.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-call nursing support, triaging patient needs and determining appropriate interventions.
• Assess patient conditions via phone and/or in-person visits and elevate care as needed.
• Coordinate with physicians, care teams, and caregivers to ensure timely and effective care delivery.
• Deliver patient and caregiver education related to symptom management and care plans.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient interactions and clinical decisions.
