Job summary

MultiCare Health System is seeking a Security Officer to join the Security Services team at Valley Hospital in Spokane Valley. The role protects people and property, ensuring safety of patients, employees, and visitors on campus.

Responsibilities include deterring crime, enforcing policies, and operating security equipment. Minimum six months of security or related experience; IAHSS certification or ability to obtain within a year; BLS and First Aid within 30 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• IAHSS basic certification or ability to obtain within one year.
• Minimum six months of experience in police, military, or security, preferably in a health care setting.
• Current state driver’s license (driving may not be required for this hospital).
• BLS certification or obtained within 30 days of hire.
• First Aid training within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Conduct general security to protect people and property and enforce applicable policies, rules, and regulations.
• Deter criminal activity and misconduct using tactical techniques.
• Utilize Management of Aggressive Behavior skills both verbally and physically as required.
• Apply Awareness, Vigilance, Avoidance, Defense, and Escape concepts to protect and serve the facility campus.
• Utilize weapons detection devices to monitor patients/visitors and ensure removal of contraband from the facility.
• Apply appropriate techniques with assistive devices when engaging with combative individuals.
• Effectively operate/leverage required security equipment and tools.
