Qualifications

• Preferred National Certification for Healthcare Interpreters (for available languages).
• Experience in interpretation and translation in a healthcare setting.
• Proficiency in oral and written languages; medical terminology knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Interpret for patients with limited English proficiency in interactions with care providers.
• Translate complex medical information and provide sight translations.
• Assist patients with scheduling, billing issues, and related matters.
• Identify and address cultural barriers impacting communication.
• On-call intake coverage and interpreter services across hospital sites.
• Train hospital staff on working with interpreters and cross-cultural communication.
• Maintain daily activity records and encounter statistics.
• Collaborate with interpreters and other departments to improve service delivery.
• Orient and supervise trainees and volunteers.
• Maintain professional competency through continuing education (min. 20 CEUs).
