Zusammenfassung

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking an on-site Medical Interpreter to support Spanish-speaking patients and clinicians. You will provide accurate interpretation during face-to-face and telephone encounters, and act as a liaison between patients and staff within a hospital setting.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or higher, bilingual oral and written skills, and at least one year of interpreting experience in healthcare.

Qualifikationen

• Bi-lingual (oral and written) with bi-cultural skills in a healthcare setting.
• Medical interpreting skills including accuracy and memory.
• English/Spanish medical vocabulary preferred; third language adds value.
• One year of healthcare interpreting experience; strong communication skills.

Aufgaben

• Interpret between clinician and patient in person or by telephone.
• Serve as liaison between patients and hospital staff.
• Inform clinicians about cultural considerations in care.
• Interpret for ancillary departments as needed.
• Interpret for non-clinical staff and patients as required.
• Assist with interpreter services coordination and data entry.
• Help schedule/confirm patient appointments and orient patients.
• Contribute to a welcoming environment and patient support.
• May provide on-call coverage evenings, weekends, or holidays.
• Assist with training staff interpreters and translating materials.
• Identify ways to better meet Spanish-speaking patient needs.
• Perform other duties as needed.
