Job summary

Chronicle Heritage is seeking On-Call Staff Archaeologists to support the greater Houston, Texas area. The role will assist the Field Director and Project Team in completing archaeological pedestrian surveys, testing and data recovery excavations, construction monitoring, and other field or office tasks.

When applicable, per diem and lodging will be provided. Hire Type: Hourly, as needed; Schedule: Availability to work full-time, as needed; Location: Houston, Texas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a closely related field.
• Field school completion or demonstrated equivalent experience.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in remote/au austere environments (walking, hiking, lifting up to 30 pounds, standing).
• Frequent out-of-town travel; potential camping when lodging is unavailable.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Support the Field Director and Project Team in pedestrian surveys, testing, and data recovery excavations.
• Assist with construction monitoring and other field or office tasks as needed.
