Job summary

DCI Donor Services is seeking an In-house Family Care Coordinator to support organ donation activities within assigned facilities. The role emphasizes empathetic donor family engagement, coordination with ORCs/DCs, and ensuring proper donor evaluation and organ yield.

This position involves extensive on-call duties, collaboration with hospital staff, and potential involvement in bereavement programs to support donor and non-donor families as needed.

Qualifications

• RN/PA/Paramedic or related health care degree or licensure preferred.
• Two to four years’ healthcare experience with families, counseling, bereavement and/or crisis intervention.
• Valid driver license with ability to pass MVR requirements; data entry skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-call support to obtain authorization for organ and tissue donation.
• Evaluate potential donors and assist families through decision points.
• Coordinate and assist in surgical recovery of organs and perioperative donor management.
• Collaborate with Hospital Development Coordinator to identify leaders and improve donation processes.
• Educate donor families about brain death and the organ donation process.
• Provide bereavement program information and follow-up communication to donor families.
