Job summary

Connecticut Convention Center is seeking a Facilities Engineer to maintain all assets to high quality standards across the venue and Adriaens Landing. You will perform preventive maintenance, respond to emergencies, and supervise external contractors to ensure work meets specifications and timelines.

Responsibilities include HVAC, lighting, plumbing, kitchen equipment, painting, carpentry; inspections, energy conservation, and operating building systems with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Maintenance experience in a convention center/meeting destination.
• Flexible schedule including weekends/holidays.
• Ability to work at heights >30 ft.
• Communicate via verbal, text, email professionally.
• Work independently and in a team.
• Problem solver using facts and judgement.
• React quickly to emergencies; may involve financial decisions to safeguard others.
• Adapt to a changing environment.
• Have a valid state driver’s license.
• Forklift/aerial lift certs are a plus and trainable.
• Basic computer skills and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on HVAC, lighting, plumbing, kitchen equipment, painting, carpentry, and related systems.
• Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment.
• Follow energy conservation guidelines for electrical, HVAC, and water utilities.
• Operate facility operating software systems independently.
• Oversee external contractors when repairs are needed.
• Attend weekly staff meetings and other requested meetings.
• Maintain clean, organized work and storage areas; ensure cleanliness of buildings and complex areas.
• Maintain all mechanized equipment and engineer equipment after use.
