Job summary

Waterford Group Llc seeks a skilled Facility Engineer to maintain the Connecticut Convention Center and Adriaens Landing assets to high standards.

You will handle HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other systems, supervise contractors, and ensure safety and energy efficiency across indoor and outdoor areas. The role requires flexibility, height access, and strong teamwork within a union setting.

Qualifications

• Maintenance experience in a convention center or meeting destination venue.
• Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to work at heights over 30 ft.
• Strong communication via verbal, text, and email.
• Independent and team work ability.
• Problem-solving using facts and judgement.
• React quickly to emergencies with sound decisions.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Forklift and aerial certification are a plus (training available).
• Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office.
• Troubleshoot machine breakdowns with available resources.
• Manage tasks on the property.
• Knowledge of HVAC, Fire suppression, Lighting and related systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional and courteous guest service.
• Respond to emergencies and be on call 24/7.
• Work varying hours including snowstorms.
• Coordinate with Chief/ Assistant Chief of Engineering to meet specs and timelines.
• Follow safety guidelines and PPE.
• Perform maintenance on HVAC, lighting, plumbing, kitchen equipment, painting and carpentry.
• Conduct routine inspections.
• Conserve energy in electrical, HVAC, and water usage.
• Operate convention center facilities software systems.
• Oversee outside contractors for repairs.
• Attend weekly staff meetings and meetings requested by Engineering leadership.
• Maintain clean and organized work and storage areas.
• Ensure building areas are clean and maintained.
• Maintain and service all equipment after use.
• Duties assigned by Chief Engineer/Assistant Chief/Engineer Supervisor.
