Job summary

The Huntington is seeking an on-call Events Assistant to support furniture setup, teardown, and custodial services for meetings and events. This role reports to the Special Events Supervisor. Evening shifts are common, with flexible hours based on events.

The ideal candidate thrives in a diverse environment and can engage with guests from varied backgrounds. Responsibilities include setup/tear-down of equipment, coordinating with AV staff, inventory control, and maintaining clean, safe spaces.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and comprehend written instructions and to accurately interpret diagrams.
• Must be attentive to details and meticulous in following verbal and written instructions.
• Must be able to work cooperatively with others and function as part of a team.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including evening and weekend events.
• Some crew experience preferred; experience with AV equipment helpful.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and tears down tables, chairs, audio/video, and other equipment as needed.
• Ensures event furniture is clean and in good repair and stored properly.
• Maintains regular inventory of in-house events furniture and equipment with repair/replacement recommendations.
• Manages a schedule of setups/teardowns to maximize space turnover and efficiency.
• Works with Special Events Managers to schedule feasible setup/teardown timing for different venue configurations.
• Runs and distributes power and lighting for events, including power boxes and cabling.
• Sets up and runs AV equipment with AV technician; assists in locating equipment and keeping it in working order.
• Performs light event cleaning: dusting, restroom cleaning, vacuuming, wiping surfaces.
• Assists in moving boxes and furniture as needed; may perform light maintenance."
• Other duties as assigned.
