Job summary

Dixie Technical College is seeking qualified on-call adjunct instructors and lab assistants in Utah to support Electrical Apprenticeship programs. The role involves assisting in labs or substituting for full-time instructors when they are away, maintaining a dynamic, industry-relevant learning environment daily.

The position requires delivering hands-on lessons, aligning with syllabi, and partnering with full-time staff to plan, execute, and assess student work while upholding safety and FERPA

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in industry required.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates Degree or Industry Recognized Certificates.
• Strong knowledge of Google Suite or Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong communications and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Instruct students following classroom syllabi, curriculum, planned lab experiences, and lesson plans, and provide feedback regarding their effectiveness and convergence with industry practices to full-time instructors
• Deliver engaging, hands-on lessons that help students learn effectively while following the course syllabus and course plan
• Communicate clear objectives and well-defined competencies for the program and all learning activities. Ensure classroom and lab are prepared for daily learning activities
• Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments in a timely manner as directed by full-time instructors
• Observe, evaluate, and record students' performance and development and provide appropriate and helpful feedback
• Manage student behavior by establishing and enforcing appropriate rules and procedures; involve full-time instructor
• With the assistance of full-time instructors, ensure student data is up to date in Northstar
• Maintain integrity and confidentiality of student information
• Adhere to safety standards and FERPA guidelines
• Model a professional environment for students in classroom and lab
• Be an active and participative member of the instructional team
• Assist with COE accreditation guidelines and OAC meetings if applicable
• Ensure respectful treatment of students and staff; report violations to HR or Student Services
• Comply with Dixie Tech Policies and Procedures
• Other duties as assigned
