Job summary

Omni William Penn Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh invites motivated individuals to join our team as an on-call dishwasher. You will support servers and ensure clean, organized workstations and proper dishware handling in a fast-paced dinner service environment.

This role requires physical stamina, the ability to stand for long periods, and a commitment to clean, safe food handling. ServSafe certification is expected upon hire.

Qualifications

• Must have or be willing to obtain ServSafe certification.
• RAMP certification required by hire.
• Ability to operate dishwashing equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain clean dish areas.
• Stock side stands with linen, dishware, silverware.
• Clean coffee machines and prep coffee.
• Set up tea station and refill ice.
• Assist servers during meal periods.
• Polish silver and run food as needed.

Purpose:

To assist servers in any way possible to ensure proper, prompt and courteous service to all guests.

Reports to:

Restaurant Manager/Restaurant Supervisor

Essential Functions:

• Station set-up
• Stock needed supplies in side stands. (linen, dishware, silverware, glassware)
• Clean-up of coffee machines and prepared coffee.
• Set-up tea station.
• Refill/collect ice supply.
• Dust all tables to include table legs.
• Put milk in refrigerator and set-up creamers.
• Set tables with clean, pressed linen, dishes, silver and glassware
• Ensure furniture and floors are clean and arranged according to specifications.
• Assist servers during meal period, bus dirty tables clearing dirty settings
• Remove any extra settings.
• Pour water and coffee as needed
• Additional duties as assigned
• Polish silver to be placed in side stations
• Assist servers with running food to guests in a timely manner

Tools and Equipment:

• Telephone, pen/pencil
• Utilize carts to bus tables and collect glassware/silver/coffee cups from the dish area

Working Environment:

• Interior of hotel, in all areas of the hotel.
• Exterior of hotel with exposure to weather conditions.
• Exposure to various hazardous chemicals.
• Exposure to food items and beverages.

Physical Job Requirements (for essential functions only)

Lifting/Pushing/Pulling/ Carrying

• Lifting trays of a maximum of 50 pounds. Pushing Queen Marys of up to 100 pounds. Bring ice to servers' station 2-3 times a day weight up to 60 pounds. Push silver and dishware up to 75 pounds.

Bending/Kneeling

• Must be able to bend to lift the trays that will weigh up to 50 pounds, 75% bending to pick-up - general cleanliness

Mobility

• Continually walking at a fast pace

Continuous Standing

• Continually standing 100% of the time

Climbing

• Climbing up to approximately 3 steps 50% of 8 hour shift

Driving

• No driving required

Work Environment

• Inside 95% of work period (usually 8 hours)
• Outside 5% of work period (usually 8 hours)
• Exposed to heat in dish room and cold when going into cooler for garnishes, etc.

Hearing/Vision/Speech/Literacy

• Hearing is minimal (However, individual must be able to communicate)
• Vision is moderate (Must be able to clear and set tables
• Literacy is minimal

Chemical/Agents Used

• Multipurpose cleaning spray

Protective Clothing

• None required

• Toaster, coffee machine
• Elevators

Other Considerations

• Must Provide RAMP and ServSafe Certifications upon hire
• This is an On Call Position
