Job summary

Omni William Penn Hotel seeks a courteous Associate to service guests in the Marketplace and room service sections. You will prepare gourmet beverages and food items, confidently upsell selections, and process payments with accuracy in a fast-paced hotel cafe environment.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering friendly guest service in a fast paced cafe or hotel setting.

Responsibilities

• Attend to and service guests in the Marketplace and room service orders.
• Prepare hot and cold drinks and portion food items for service.
• Upsell beverages, pastries, and selected menu items to guests.
• Process transactions accurately and balance the cash drawer at shifts end.
• Maintain clean workstation and communicate with culinary team as needed.

Summary: The Associate will attend to and service guests in the Marketplace experience as well as room service orders. Associate will accurately and efficiently prepare hot and cold drinks, as well as prepare and portion food products prior to serving. The Associate will up sell beverages, pastries, and other selections, accurately process transactions for food and retail items, and provide excellent service to all guests.

Responsibilities

• Providing excellent customer service to all guests.
• Taking beverage and food orders in a professional manner.
• Answering guest questions about menu items.
• Brewing gourmet coffee and other specialty beverages.
• Sell sandwiches, snacks, espresso, and specialty beverages.
• Up selling and suggestive selling of items.
• Accurately processing cash, credit, check transactions and maintaining a balanced bank.
• Communicate with the culinary team when more product is needed.
• Knowledge of food menu and wine list (when applicable).
• Stock condiment trays, coffee station, display cases, and refrigerators.
• Clean the area as needed and at the end of the shift.
• Handle all checks and cash according to procedures and in point of sale system.
• Printing of reports at the end of the shift and banking out.
• Attend all designated staff meetings and training sessions.
• Be familiar with all property amenities and other restaurants.
• Know and adhere to all liability laws.
• Respond to any reasonable task as assigned by manager and/or supervisor.
• Complete other duties assigned by manager and/or supervisor.
• Ability to check in retail merchandise with accuracy and restock Cafe counter to supply and demand.
• Good communication skills working directly with customers face to face as well as good phone etiquette.
• Understanding of the basic operation of kitchen equipment as it relates to the Cafe counter.
• Involved in physical inventories once per quarter or 4 times per year.

Requirements

• Must have a flexible availability, including weekends and holidays, and early morning shifts.
• Previous customer service experience is required; relevant barista or food and beverage experience is preferred.
• Must have excellent communication skills both in person and on the phone.
• Must be able to bend, push, pull and stand for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift at least 30lbs.
• Must have a current Servsafe Certification and RAMP Certification (when/if alcohol is served).
• Must be able to stand for length of shift.

ENVIRONMENT

• Interior of hotel, in the restaurant, kitchen and guestroom. Exposure to extreme temperatures.
