Job summary

Knapheide in Quincy, IL seeks an IT Help Desk Technician to provide first-level support for end users via the internal ticket system. The role involves hands-on desktop hardware/software fixes, PC and printer repairs, and on-call rotation outside normal hours.

You will install and configure Windows OS and applications, train users, and ensure systems are up to date with patches. Strong customer service and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service attitude.
• Good written, phone and in-person communication skills.
• Desktop and laptop troubleshooting.
• Build and deploy PCs.
• Basic printer maintenance, repair and diagnostics.
• Understand and support common/modern applications (Windows, Office, etc...).
• Ability to maintain AV equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide answers to users by identifying problems, researching answers, and guiding users through corrective steps.
• Provide single point of contact for users reporting problems with computer operation.
• Troubleshoot reported hardware and software problems and perform repairs for PCs and printers.
• Install new PCs, printers, and software.
• Install, configure, and upgrade Windows OS and applications.
• Train end-users on devices and software.
• Administer the corporate PC antivirus program.
• System monitoring.
• Provide assistance to ensure all computers are up to date with patches and updates.
• Provide support to remote locations by phone and in person.
• Assist in developing standards for hardware and software used.
• Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop including software/hardware upgrades.
