Northwest Regional Council (NWRC) is a multi-service agency that covers the Washington counties of Island, San Juan, Skagit and Whatcom, with offices in Bellingham and Mount Vernon, Washington. A DAY IN THE LIFE

This position will provide administrative support to both the Fiscal and Non-Emergency Medicaid Transportation departments. A day in the life could include ordering ferry tickets, drafting correspondence to clients and transportation providers, auditing and authorizing transportation documentation, data entry, archiving files, monitoring the Fiscal mailbox for notices, and preparing purchase orders.

SCHEDULE

This is a permanent, part-time position. The On-Call Department Assistant will work with the Fiscal Manager to develop a set weekly schedule upon hire that includes 16-17 hours per week across Monday-Thursday.

NWRC staff typically work between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

10-Step pay range: $24.03 – $31.36 hourly

NWRC salary ranges are comprised of a 10-Step scale. On their employment anniversary, employees are eligible for an annual pay increase to the next step in the associated salary range, subject to satisfactory performance. In addition to the annual pay increases, NWRC assesses cost of living adjustments (COLA) on an annual basis, subject to Governing Board approval. New employees at NWRC usually start at the first step in the position’s assigned salary range. NWRC may consider a higher step when evaluating the candidate’s experience, training, or proven capability. Internal equity will be reviewed and prioritized when determining a starting pay rate.

As a a non-exempt (hourly), on-call,
permanent role, this position is eligible for the following benefits:

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of general office principles, practices and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with databases, word processing and spreadsheets at an intermediate skill level.
  • Demonstrated organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, interpret and categorize data rapidly and accurately.
  • Ability to compose documents with proper grammar, punctuation and spelling.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of client, provider, and staff information.
  • Ability to work independently, including organizing and prioritizing assignments, drafting routine correspondence, trouble shooting and problem solving.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other agency personnel, and the general public using courtesy, tact and good judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with communities of color, people with disabilities, LGBTQIA+, and other marginalized communities.
  • Demonstrated ability, willingness and commitment to support an environment that advocates and creates a sense of belonging for individuals of all ethnicities, genders, ages, and backgrounds.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of institutional barriers to services.
Education/Experience
  • High school graduate or equivalent; AND four or more years of experience providing administrative support in an office environment OR
  • Associate’s degree in business administration or related field AND two or more years of experience providing administrative support in an office environment OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge and ability to perform the work
  • Experience working in human services setting preferred.
Licenses/Certificates
  • Must have a valid Washington State driver's license, a vehicle available for work-related travel, and appropriate liability insurance.
