Job summary

Downtown Women’s Center is seeking a Day Center Coordinator (On-Call) in Los Angeles, CA to oversee daily operations and deliver direct services to 200+ participants. You will manage sign-ups, provide referral services, and distribute essential resources, while ensuring a welcoming and safe environment.

The role requires crisis intervention skills, strong communication, and the ability to supervise volunteers and interns.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Direct service experience with disadvantaged populations and/or customer service experience required; nonprofit experience is a plus.
• Fluency in Spanish and English strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily Day Center operations, including opening/closing, enrichment activities, and overall supervision.
• Provide direct services to 200+ participants daily, including managing sign-ups for showers, referrals, and resources.
• Maintain safe, welcoming environment; greet guests, address requests, de-escalate crises, and support staff.
• Oversee in-kind donations; distribute resources to participants.
• Assist with outreach to develop new resources.
• Lead, train, monitor volunteers and interns; assign projects as needed.
• Assist with Day Center tracking and data entry; participate in meal distribution.
