Job summary

Washington Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) seeks an On-Call Custodian 1 for the Washington Veterans Home in Port Orchard. You will perform custodial tasks, cleaning and maintenance to support a safe, comfortable living environment for Veterans.

This on-call role requires availability for a minimum of three shifts per week on two different shifts, with eligibility for the step-based pay and a shift premium through 2027.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work around unpleasant odors, bloodborne pathogens, body excrements, and infections/contagious diseases.
• Excellent listening skills and ability to work with diverse residents and staff.
• Follow policies and procedures and maintain quality and safety standards.
• Proficient in English; basic computer literacy for trainings.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry objects over 50 lbs; regular physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Dust, disinfect, sweep, mop floors, vacuum carpets.
• Maintain walls, curtains, beds, call cords, and trays.
• Clean floors throughout the facility and fixtures.
• Perform housekeeping and maintenance tasks as needed.
• Regularly clean toilets, sinks, and related fixtures.
