Job summary

Sam Houston State University is seeking a Maintenance Technician II in Carpentry Services to support the Facilities Services team. The position involves semi-skilled maintenance, construction, and repair work across structures, equipment, and appliances, including locks, door hardware, and window dressing.

The candidate should have a high school diploma or GED and at least four years of hands-on experience in carpentry, plumbing, or related trades, with on-call duties and a valid Texas driver's

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED equivalent.
• Four years of experience in performing a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair work in one or more craft areas.
• A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Responsibilities

• Performs semi-skilled tasks in construction, repairs, and maintenance of structures, equipment, and appliances.
• Installs and or repairs locks, door hardware, and window dressing.
• Does sheetrock repair, texturing, painting, lathe, rough concrete laying, and patch plastering.
• Unstops sinks, drains, commodes, hand basins, sewer lines; HVAC condensate drains.
• Performs semi-skilled tasks in construction, repairs, and maintenance of structures, equipment, and appliances.
• Makes minor repairs and adjustments to electrical switches, plugs, and light fixtures, carpentry furniture and doors, plumbing commodes, faucets, and shower fixtures, electronic and HVAC equipment, and appliances.
• During maintenance rounds, checks equipment, and takes care of general emergencies.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
