Job description

Position Summary

The Bartender/Server will prepare and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, take food orders, serve meals, and collect payment for drinks served.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Receive orders from patrons and wait staff.
2. Comply with company policies and laws by screening guests' IDs to ensure they are of legal drinking age.
3. Ensure the bar is stocked with fresh garnishes, liquor, and clean glassware.
4. Prepare drinks as ordered.
5. Submit orders and requisitions for bar supplies such as liquor and utensils.
6. Be knowledgeable of the food menu.
7. Adhere to time limits set by supervisors to ensure efficiency.
8. Maintain contact with guests during their dining experience.
9. Prepare orders accurately, considering guest preferences and allergies.
10. Process guest payments.
11. Use judgment to refuse service to intoxicated or disruptive patrons.
12. Create requisition forms for liquor, beer, and other supplies.
13. Assist in activities in the lounge, dining room, and catering as needed.

Required Skills/Abilities

1. Speak, read, and write English; effective communication with managers and co-workers.
2. Apply basic math skills and use a calculator.
3. Extensive knowledge of drink preparation and service.
4. Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service focus.
5. Remain calm with unruly or argumentative patrons.
6. Learn and operate cash register software.

Education and Experience

1. Completion of mixology or related training.
2. At least one year of related experience preferred.
3. Ability to manage multiple tasks and stay composed under pressure.
4. Friendly, courteous, and attentive approach to guests and team members.
5. Ability to manage high-volume areas including dining, lounge, and banquet areas.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The physical requirements include talking, hearing, standing for long periods, sitting, walking, handling objects, reaching, climbing, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting up to 15 pounds. Use of computers and equipment is frequent. Must be of legal drinking age.
