Job Description Summary

The Banquet Server is responsible for delivering and serving food and beverage items to banquet guests in a timely, friendly, and efficient manner, contributing to the hotel's goal of delivering outstanding guest service.

Key Job Functions

  1. Maintain a pleasant personality and demeanor throughout the function.
  2. Provide food service for banquet events according to hotel and banquet standards.
  3. Setup action stations, cook (e.g., simmer, brown, sauté), and serve patrons at action stations following the head chef's presentation and garnishes.
  4. Set up banquet buffet displays (hot and cold) within allotted time and maintain food levels.
  5. Engage with guests to determine food allergies, preferences, and dietary needs, reporting these to banquet leadership.
  6. Apply proper coffee and tea brewing techniques.
  7. Be familiar with seating arrangements and proper serving techniques during plated events.
  8. Complete daily side duties, post-function cleanup, and organization of work areas.
  9. Attend pre-shift and post-shift meetings with banquet leadership.
  10. Inspect work responsibilities with banquet leadership before leaving.
  11. Store equipment orderly and cleanly, following instructions from banquet management.
  12. Build positive relationships with colleagues, treating them with respect and dignity.
  13. Support team and individual responsibilities, exhibit objectivity, and foster group commitment.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting in other hotel areas when needed.
  15. Deliver passionate and engaging service, recognizing guests and anticipating their needs to exceed expectations, following the GUEST model: Greet warmly, Use eye and ear contact, Establish needs, Solve requests, and Thank guests.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience in delivering exceptional guest or client experiences.
  • Strong communication skills for training, safety, and guest interaction.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Availability for various shifts including early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays, and long hours.
  • Understanding of room diagrams and seating charts.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and present information effectively.
  • Valid Louisiana Responsible Vendor Server's Permit and ServSafe Food Handler Certificate.

Education and Experience:

  • At least 1 year of food service experience, preferably in banquets.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to stand, walk, talk, hear, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

Typically loud, requiring hearing protection if needed.
