Job summary

Stantec is seeking an On-Call Architectural Historian to support architectural history efforts in California, with base options in Sacramento or Roseville. The position emphasizes independent work and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of historians, archaeologists, engineers, and environmental staff.

Responsibilities include research, field work, historic context development, eligibility determinations for NRHP/CRHR, consultations, and report development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree is required.
• An advanced degree in public history, heritage conservation, architectural history, historic preservation or related field is highly desired.
• At least 1 year of experience as an architectural historian or built environment specialist.

Responsibilities

• Research and field work for architectural history projects.
• Develop historic context and determine NRHP/CRHR eligibility.
• Conduct consultations and contribute to report development.
• Prepare report sections and manage archival data and databases.
