Job summary
Kleinfelder is seeking On-Call Architectural Historians to support public and private sector projects across California. You will assist with historical research, field surveys, and technical reports, working largely remote with some field requirements.
You will report to San Diego, while home offices can be in Northern California including San Jose. Requirements include a BA+ in Historic Preservation/Architectural History, 3–6 years in CA, GIS and photography skills, and familiarity with DPR
Qualifications
- BA or higher in Historic Preservation, Architectural History, History or related field.
- SOI qualified architectural historian preferred.
- 3–6 years of California experience.
- Familiar with DPR 523 forms.
- Travel and outdoor work willing and able.
- GIS experience with ArcGIS Online and field maps.
- Photography proficiency and CRM familiarity.
Responsibilities
- Fieldwork including archival research and survey work.
- Prepare DPR 523- series and NRHP/CHRIS-based evaluations.
- Coordinate with historians, archaeologists, biologists, and engineers.
- Draft contexts, reports, and project deliverables.
- Support client services and problem-solving in a fast-paced setting.
