Job summary

Oneonta Job Corps is seeking an Academic Instructor- Substitute to provide instruction across planned curricula in a high school setting in Oneonta, NY. The role is on-call, hourly, non-exempt, and temp service.

The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree with active New York State Teacher Certification and a valid NYS driver’s license. Typical schedule runs 8:00am-5:00pm, with instruction in math and reading, plus mentorship and student support responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and NYS Teacher Certification required.
• Equivalent combo of education, training, or experience may substitute for degree on a year-to-year basis.
• Valid NYS Driver’s License with acceptable driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and prepare lesson plans; administer and correct tests.
• Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet diverse student needs.
• Recommend curriculum changes and supplemental materials.
• Motivate and counsel students in behavior, study habits, and personal development.
• Coordinate with advisors and staff to resolve training-related issues.
• Record and forward daily attendance; maintain student folders.
