Job summary

Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe is seeking a dedicated youth program staff to assist with daily classroom operations and ensure culturally relevant activities across arts, language and culture, technology, education, fitness, health, leadership and service for youth aged 5-12.

The role emphasizes Ojibwe language growth, positive relationships with families, and adherence to licensing standards, CACFP guidelines, and professional development requirements.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum one year of experience working with school-age children in a center setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience.
  • Must pass Leech Lake Licensing Standards.
  • First Aid/CPR certification (Adult, Child, and Infant).
  • Native American preference.
  • Must be able to use a computer to develop documents, charts and letters.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create space for speaking and learning Ojibwe with increasing frequency and skill.
  • Maintain positive work atmosphere by modeling and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with children, families, co-workers, and community members.
  • Directs and promotes team cooperation in implementing LLBO policies and licensing requirements.
  • Assist with program planning and ensure that daily/monthly reports are completed and submitted on time.
  • Attend and/or conduct mandatory meetings and trainings as required.
  • Travel in and out of the state on a regular basis.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics at all times.
  • Engage with families and provide ongoing communication about child development.
