Job summary

Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians seeks a Student Services Assistant to support the Youth Education and Activities Program, coordinating activities for Native American youth from preschool through 12th grade.

The role involves assisting with homework, skill-building, and collaboration with parents and teachers to foster academic and cultural growth. The position requires at least a high school diploma, 1 year of youth-facing experience, and strong communication with the ability to work

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 1 year minimum experience working with youth.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Knowledge of Native American history and culture preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing program activities, events, and participant recruitment.
  • Supervise Youth Education and Activities (YEA) program activities.
  • Monitor participant behavior and enforce policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of participant involvement and progress.
  • Coordinate transportation and family communications as needed.
