Whitley Penn, one of the nation’s leading audit, tax, and advisory firms, seeks an Assistant Controller to join our Oil & Gas Upstream accounting team in Dallas. You will develop tools and processes, oversee the Oil & Gas Accounting group, design organizational structures, supervise associates, and drive client satisfaction.

Responsibilities include setting up accounting processes for O&G Upstream, developing service plans, researching technical issues, and ensuring deliverables meet firm

Qualifications

• 8+ years of Oil & Gas Upstream accounting experience.
• Experience setting up accounting functions and implementation acumen.
• Experience with Ogsys (OGsql/OGpro) and WolfePak.
• BA or Master’s in accounting; APA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Energy practice Market Leader to develop tools, systems, and processes for Oil & Gas Upstream accounting clients.
• Oversee the operations of the Oil and Gas Accounting group, including designing an organizational structure to achieve client goals, supervise associates, manage client satisfaction, and staffing.
• Set up and implement accounting functions/processes related to O&G Upstream accounting.
• Develop tools, systems, and processes related to O&G Upstream accounting.
• Develop client service plans for engagements in collaboration with the team.
• Identify and research technical issues to ensure compliance with rules and standards.
• Ensure processes and deliverables meet professional and firm standards.
• Participate in firm committees and contribute to policy and process improvements.
• Monitor engagement teams and client relationships; resolve conflicts and obstructions.
