Job summary

Whitley Penn, a leading audit, tax, and advisory firm, seeks a Controller to lead outsourced accounting engagements with an emphasis on client service and value-added opportunities. The role requires advanced technical and management skills, and involvement in training associates and developing new business for the firm.

The successful candidate will manage multiple client engagements, supervise staff, ensure compliance with GAAP and auditing standards, and contribute to firm policy improvements

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years of experience in Oil & Gas accounting and analysis, Upstream/E&P.
• Public accounting or professional services experience preferred.
• BA or Master’s in accounting; CPA/CA/CMA/APA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop tools, systems and processes for Oil & Gas Upstream accounting clients.
• Serve as a liaison between partner, client and staff; manage multiple engagements.
• Oversee engagement economics and ensure QC, timelines, and deliverables meet standards.
• Develop client service plans and communicate progress and outcomes to clients.
