Job summary

Whitley Penn, a national audit, tax, and advisory firm, seeks a Controller to join our CAAS Energy Accounting & Consulting team. The role focuses on outsourced accounting for Oil & Gas Upstream clients, with an emphasis on client service, value-added insights, and staff development.

The position requires advanced technical skills and strong managerial capabilities, including developing training material and mentoring associates, while identifying opportunities to grow the firm’s services.

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years of Oil & Gas accounting and analysis, Upstream/E&P.
• BA or Master’s in accounting required; CPA/CA/CMA/APA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop tools, systems and processes for Oil & Gas Upstream accounting clients.
• Manage client engagements and relationships with staff and external auditors.
• Oversee engagement economics and ensure quality, compliant deliverables.
• Train and develop associates; contribute to business development.
