Job summary

Halo Land Management seeks a Title Agent to research, verify, and document ownership rights for mineral, surface, and leasehold estates, supporting drilling decisions and land acquisitions.

The role requires completing chain-of-title from patent to present, preparing readable, defensible reports, and identifying irregularities. You will work with project managers and use Halo templates for clear, client-ready deliverables.

Qualifications

• Two to five years of oil and gas title, land, or abstracting experience.
• Strong understanding of mineral, surface, and leasehold title including HBP and heirship.
• Ability to interpret legal instruments such as deeds, leases, conveyances, assignments, and probate.
• Experience with courthouse research, online databases, GIS platforms, and public records.
• Proficiency with Excel, Google Drive, Word, and basic PDF tools.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to produce clear, defensible, client ready reports.
• Excellent written communication with the ability to explain complex chains clearly.
• Willing to obtain or currently hold an AAPL membership.

Responsibilities

• Title Research and Ownership Verification: conduct thorough title research for surface, mineral, and leasehold estates from patent to present.
• Reporting, Analysis, and Documentation: prepare abstracts, run sheets, and ownership reports in chronological order; highlight irregularities.
• Tools, Systems, and Research Methods: use county courthouse sites, online databases, GIS tools, and maintain organized digital files.
• Communication and Collaboration: update project managers and teammates on status; share findings and county knowledge.
