Job summary

Whitley Penn is seeking a Controller to join our CAAS - Energy Accounting & Consulting team in Houston. The role emphasizes advanced technical skills, supervision, and developing associates while identifying value-added services for clients.

The Controller will work in a hybrid environment (in-office 3 days a week) and collaborate with AN Energy O&G Partner to build tools and processes for upstream accounting clients. Strong communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• 7-10+ years in Oil & Gas accounting and analysis, primarily Upstream/E&P.
• Public accounting or professional services experience preferred.
• Proven ability to set up accounting functions/process and implement.

Responsibilities

• Develop tools, systems and processes for Oil & Gas Upstream accounting clients.
• Serve as liaison between partner, client and staff; manage multiple engagements.
• Monitor engagement economics and coordinate workflow; ensure QC compliance.
• Develop client service plans with the team and manage client relationships.
