Job summary

Whitley Penn is seeking an Assistant Controller in Dallas to lead the Oil & Gas Upstream accounting practice. The role works closely with the Energy Practice Leader to design tools, systems, and processes for upstream clients, supervise associates, and ensure project delivery aligns with professional and firm standards.

You will oversee the Oil and Gas Accounting group, build an organizational structure to meet client goals, train staff, and contribute to business development while maintaining

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Oil & Gas accounting and analysis, Upstream/E&P.
• Experience with setting up accounting functions/process; implementation acumen.
• Proficiency with Oil & Gas accounting standards and software tools.

Responsibilities

• Work with Energy practice Market Leader to develop tools, systems, and processes for Oil & Gas Upstream clients.
• Oversee operations of the Oil and Gas Accounting group, including staffing, scheduling, and client satisfaction.
• Set up and implement accounting functions/processes for O&G Upstream accounting.
• Develop client service plans for engagements with the team.
• Research technical issues to ensure compliance with rules and standards.
• Monitor budgets and manage engagement progress and client relationships.
