Job summary

Valaris PLC is seeking a qualified Fourth Engineer Officer to support the Chief Engineer on a MODU, ensuring safe operation of power and propulsion systems and safe bunkering operations. The role requires maintaining engine room readiness, supervising junior crew, and contributing to safety procedures and improvements.

Ideal candidates bring several years of marine experience, a recognized maritime degree, and completion of required training and certification to meet regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of four years in the marine industry.
  • 1–2 years maritime experience as 4th Engineer Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch.
  • Completion of degree from a recognized Maritime Academy or University is required.
  • Completion of all training and certification requirements for the position.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety of crew, environment and engine room; maintain engine room and safety procedures.
  • Attend pre-tour, post-tour, and weekly safety meetings.
  • Oversee Engine Control Room watch and supervise other watch personnel; ensure proper power distribution on the MODU.
  • Perform bunkering and transfer of fuel, water, and other fluids safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain order and housekeeping at mechanical sites; assist Chief/Second Engineer with safety-critical equipment testing and maintenance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational procedures and assist with revisions and risk assessments.
