Job summary

Valaris PLC is seeking a 4th Engineer to assist senior engineers in providing technical support and safe operation of the MODU's power plant and machinery. The role emphasizes safety of crew, the environment, and equipment, with involvement in risk assessments and procedure improvements.

The position requires a maritime academy credential and a High School Diploma, with drilling experience preferred. Training and certification per the company matrix are expected to be completed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma is required.
  • Graduation from a Maritime Academy is required.
  • Drilling Industry experience is preferred.
  • Completion of all training and certification requirements for position as described in the training matrix.

Responsibilities

  • Safety of crew, environment, and engine room.
  • Participate in pre-tour, post tour, and weekly safety meetings.
  • Watch in the Engine Control Room.
  • Assure proper power distribution on the MODU.
  • Maintain mechanical equipment as required.
  • Bunkering, transferring fuel, water, and other fluids safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain order and housekeeping at mechanical sites.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational procedures and assist with revisions and risk assessments.

Job description

The 4th Engineer assists the Chief, 2nd, and 3rd Engineers in providing technical support and domestic and industrial services to all areas of the MODU. This position exercises effective control and efficient operation of the MODU power plant and machinery with attention to the safety of the crew, protection of the environment, and safety of the MODU.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for safety of crew, environment, and engine room as well as personal safety.
  • Attends and participates in all pre-tour, post tour, and weekly safety meeting.
  • Responsible for watch in the Engine Control Room.
  • Assures proper power distribution on MODU.
  • Maintains mechanical equipment when required.
  • Responsible for bunkering, transferring fuel, water, and other fluids safely and efficiently.
  • Maintains order, cleanliness, and housekeeping at mechanical sites.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve operational procedures and assists with procedure revisions and risk assessments.

Qualifications / Experience

  • High School Diploma is required. Graduation from a Maritime Academy is required.
  • Drilling Industry experience is preferred.
  • Completion of all training and certification requirements for position as described in the training matrix.
