Your impact
You will be the point person ensuring every job meets exacting standards for color accuracy, registration, and print quality. You’ll lead by example on the pressroom floor and partner with leadership to advance our processes.
Primary Responsibilities
- Safely produce premium paperboard packaging to customer specifications.
- Pre‑job verification: review job orders, proofs, save sheets, LSDs, and production specs.
- Set up, fine‑tune, and operate a multi‑color sheetfed offset press; maintain precise image placement and ink/water balance.
- Lead a press team (2nd Pressman and Feeder); coach, motivate, and provide performance feedback.
- Control and verify color using proofs, LSDs, densitometry, and scanning densitometers as needed.
- Continuously monitor press performance; adjust to protect both quality and throughput.
- Inspect work‑in‑process, troubleshoot quality and mechanical issues, and execute corrective actions.
- Manage raw materials, minimize waste, and return unused materials/documentation to proper storage.
- Identify, segregate, and communicate nonconforming product.
- Document production data—quantities, material usage—and retain qualifying Save Sheets for every run.
- Ensure complete line clearance between jobs and maintain a clean, safe work area.
- Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs to maximize uptime.
- Collaborate with the Director of Print Technologies to improve quality, productivity, and manufacturing processes.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with strong English communication skills.
- Math proficiency (fractions and decimals) and accurate color vision.
- Basic computer literacy preferred.
- Minimum 2 years as a Lead Pressman running multi‑color offset producing top‑tier 4‑color process (5+ preferred).
- Team leadership experience—training, coaching, and developing crew members.
- Expertise in offset printing: ink/water balance, color management, and registration control.
- Mitsubishi press background preferred; experience with paperboard packaging, UV inks, in‑line coating, and handheld/scanning densitometers preferred.
- Spectrophotometer familiarity is a plus.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting ability, and sound decision‑making under pressure.
