Job summary

The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) is seeking a diligent administrative professional to support the Fire Administration/Reimbursement Unit. Under supervision, you will handle clerical duties, assist with planning, response and recovery activities, and help manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.

About the Opportunity:

Under the direction of the Supervisor I of the Fire Administration/Reimbursement Unit, the OT (Typing) must have a thorough knowledge of the related programs, policies, procedures, and administrative clerical duties. The incumbent must exercise a significant level of discretion in performing varied and complex tasks and assist with planning, response, and recovery activities for the branch to run efficiently. The incumbent must also use good organizational skills, handle multiple tasks, and meet constantly changing priorities and deadlines.

Working Conditions:

In Office: This position supports and manages the day-to-day business operations for Cal OES which is handled in an office location. This is not considered a hybrid telework position.

DMV Pull Program: Participation in the DMV Pull Program is required. The position(s) require(s) a valid Driver’s License (DL). You must answer the questions addressing your DL on your application. Ensure you provide your DL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.

The Plan is developed and updated under guidance and approval of the Fire and Rescue Service Advisory Committee/FIRESCOPE Board of Directors. The continued success of California’s unique and highly-effective Fire and Rescue Mutual Aid System demands a maximum level of understanding and cooperation by all who use and support it.

In the event of an emergency, employees may be contacted and requested to report to work in the event of an emergency. This contact may be outside of your normal working hours (evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays). This service may require irregular work hours, work locations other than the official duty location, and may include duties other than those specified in your official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and you may be required to relocate to emergency sites.
