DEPARTMENT: Linn County Surveyor’s Office
GENERAL JOB DUTIES:

Perform varied and complex administrative and program assistant functions for the department head. Assignments are performed with relative independence. Supervisory guidance is sought when clarification or interpretation of department policy is in question. This classification is distinguished by the exercise of authority over elements of a more complex and involved office workflow.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
  • Provide advanced and specialized clerical support to department head; establish and implement office procedures, compose correspondence in accordance to standard policies.
  • Maintain fiscal, payroll, personnel and department records. Route incoming mail and correspondence.
  • Within defined guidelines, provide technical assistance for a program area.
  • Assist the public and answer varied inquiries which require a technical knowledge of department functions.
  • Maintain records of financial transactions; receive daily receipts and balance cash flow. Audit printout reports and work with computer records.
  • Assist in departmental budget preparation and expenditure control; on personnel management and supervision (to include hiring, evaluation and discipline); purchasing and related matters.
  • Maintain regular and predictable work attendance.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Two years of experience in general office administrative work which preferably includes one year of experience in a Land Surveying Office. A high school diploma or equivalent and additional college level coursework is preferred. Reasonable knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices necessary to maintain various departmental records. Ability to exercise good judgement, courtesy and tact in public interactions. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information. Knowledge of land surveying is beneficial to the job.

COMPENSATION:

Salary range $3,911 to $4,993 per month plus excellent benefit package. Salary is based on 7.5hour work day.
