Job summary

Washington County in Oregon is seeking a Survey Technician III in the Development Review Section of the County Surveyor’s Office. The role focuses on in-office reviews of surveys and plats to ensure compliance with applicable statutes and codes and to support filing and documentation within the County Surveyor’s Office.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate’s Degree in surveying or related field and/or several years of boundary/cadastral surveying experience, plus proficiency with CAD

• Associate’s Degree in surveying or related field and two years of surveying experience, or four years of surveying experience with lead or training.
• Experience with boundary, cadastral or construction surveying is preferred.
• Knowledge of statutes relating to surveying, right-of-way, and platting.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-office reviews of surveys and plats for compliance with statutes and codes.
• Assist in filing documents in the County Surveyor’s Office.
• Use survey instruments and CAD software to support survey work.
• Communicate findings effectively in writing and verbally.

About The Opportunity

This position will remain open until filled, applications will be reviewed every two weeks.

The County Surveyor's Office in the Department of Land Use and Transportation is recruiting for a Survey Technician III in the Development Review Section of the Surveyor's Office. The primary duties may include performing in office reviews of surveys and plats for compliance with applicable statutes and codes for filing in the County Surveyor's Office.

Ideal Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)

• Surveying principles and methods.
• Statutes relating to surveying, right-of-way, and platting.
• Computer software relating to surveying and engineering.
• Use current manual and electronic survey instruments.
• Use computer assisted drafting software.
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with individuals and groups who come from diverse backgrounds and represent members of the public, coworkers, and/or vendors.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• Associate’s Degree in surveying, mathematics, geographic information systems, construction management, engineering, forestry, or related field; AND two (2) years of responsible experience in boundary, cadastral or construction surveying. OR
• Four (4) years of responsible experience in boundary, cadastral or construction surveying, which includes functional lead or training personnel experience.

Special Qualifications

• Must possess a driver’s license valid in the State of Oregon and have an acceptable driving record
