Job summary

Ascension Sacred Heart Medical Clinic in Panama City, FL is seeking a Medical Office Clerk to greet patients, verify demographics, handle insurance authorizations, and manage daily charges and co-pays. This full-time, day-shift role supports scheduling and general office tasks in a busy primary care clinic.

Candidates with a high school equivalency or 1 year of related experience are encouraged to apply; 1+ year in a medical setting and familiarity with insurance authorizations are preferred,

• At least 1 year in a Medical Clinic or Medical Group setting is preferred.
• Experience with medical insurance, pre-authorizations and authorizations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors, check patients in and out, and obtain necessary documentation.
• Verify and enter demographic information and assist with scheduling and confirmations.
• Enter, review and submit charges for patient procedures and services daily; collect co-payments and reconcile daily reports.
• Provide general office and clerical support to assigned area.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Greets patients and visitors, checks patients in and out, and obtains necessary documentation. Verifies and enters demographic information.
• Obtains and verifies insurance authorizations/precertification. Completes medical record release requests and schedules/confirms patient appointments.
• Enters, reviews and submits charges for patient procedures and services daily. Collects co-payments and reconciles all daily reports and deposits for accuracy.
• Provides general office and clerical support to assigned area.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. *Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Additional Preferences

• At least one year of experience in a Medical Clinic or Medical Group setting.
• One or more years of experience with Medical Insurance, Pre-Authorizations, and Authorizations.
