The Kendallville ParkDepartment is currently accepting applications for the position of Office Manager. This is a full-time position, with full employee benefits. Applicants must submit, either electronically or in person, a completed application by 4:00 pm on May 23, 2025.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ability to work independently, type letters, reports, memos; performs bookkeeping function; able to assemble digital presentations and brochures.
Essential Functions:
- Prepares and types claims; collects receipts and add receipts; compiles time cards, transfers information to spreadsheet; checks with Clerk/Treasurer's office for financial accuracy of accounting.
- Types correspondence; basic bookkeeping, accounting, payroll; maintains department files and books; assemble employee hiring packets, maintain employee files.
- Takes telephone calls and answers questions regarding park activities, assists with preparing park brochures, schedules programs, activities and facilities. Must have knowledge of computer word processing and page layout programs.
Other duties and responsibilities:
- Assist by performing clerical work for the Park Director, Sports Complex Manager, Recreation Director, Apple Festival Board and other program instructors associated with the department. Updates Park website calendar; distribute payroll checks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Abilities to: carry out instructions; do math; copy records precisely; complete routine forms; recognize grammatical and spelling errors; prepare routine correspondence; maintain records according to established procedures; multitask; and good communication skills with the public.
- Skill in: word processing, spreadsheets and page layout; and oral and written communications.
Equipment operated:
- Copy machine, computer and assorted equipment as needed.
Working conditions:
- Works in an office environment.
Qualifications:
- Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform the work of this position. An example of a qualified candidate is the familiarity with computers, bookkeeping experience; written communication experience and good communication skills with the public.
Employment Standards:
- Must be a United States citizen.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must have earned a high school diploma or GED.
- Must pass a criminal history and driver’s history.
Selection Process:
- Longevity pay (after first year) $100.00/year.
- 1 year of service completed: 5 vacation days.
- 2-5 years of service completed: 10 vacation days.
- 6-10 years of service completed: 15 vacation days.
- 11-15 years of service completed: 20 vacation days.
- 15 or more years of service completed: 25 vacation days.
- Holidays: 15 per year.
- Personal days: 4 per year.
