New Heights was founded in October 2005 as an independent non-profit organization in New York City.Our mission is “to educate and empower promising underserved youth to be leaders, champions and student-athletes by developing the skills necessary for success in high school, college and life.”We are located at the Major R. Owens Health & Wellness Community Center in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Our facility includes three basketball courts, three classrooms, offices, tutoring rooms, and meeting spaces.
New Heights provides intensive, long-term support for promising young athletes from underserved communities to develop the academic skills, leadership abilities and character traits necessary to succeed beyond sports.Our services impact thousands of youth annually, primarily in grades 4-12, through our College Bound and Community programs that include:
- Travel basketball teams
- Academic support, tutoring, counseling and workshops focused on social-emotional learning and life skills
- High school preparation, guidance and placement services
- College preparation, guidance and placement services
- New Heights Summer Academy (an academic-athletic summer program)
- Community-based clinics, leagues, camps, workshops and events
Position Summary
The Office & Facility Operations Manager is responsible for the daily operations of New Heights' administrative office and basketball facility. This highly visible role ensures the office, athletic spaces, and facility operations run efficiently while providing exceptional service to staff, members, guests, and external partners.
Responsibilities include front office administration, facility operations, vendor coordination, office and equipment management, calendar administration, expense tracking, HR support, and supervision of part-time facility staff. The Facility & Office Operations Manager reports to the Chief Finance & Administration Officer and works closely with the senior leadership team to support the organization's operational excellence.
This is a full-time, on-site position based in Brooklyn, New York. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.Some weekends and evenings are required throughout the year.
Primary Responsibilities
Facility Operations
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the office, classrooms, and basketball facility to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
- Maintain effective communication with property management, facility partners, external user groups, and the public.
- Support the scheduling and coordination of facility rentals and reservations for internal and external users.
- Monitor facility usage to ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Coordinate custodial, maintenance, and repair services with vendors and property management.
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure facilities and equipment remain in excellent working condition.
- Submit and monitor work orders for building systems, office equipment, and athletic equipment.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise part-time, seasonal, and event support staff, including on-court supervisors.
Office Administration
- Welcome members, visitors, and guests, ensuring a professional and positive experience while directing them to the appropriate staff member, meeting room, classroom, or court.
- Maintain office organization and oversee inventory of office, pantry, and operational supplies.
- Manage the organization's master calendar and shared meeting spaces.
- Track employee expense reimbursements and corporate credit card receipts and transactions.
- Assist with HR-related administrative tasks, employee on-boarding, employee off-boarding, and special projects.
- Serve as the first point of contact by answering and directing phone calls.
- Manage incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and general correspondence.
- Provide administrative support to the Chief Finance & Administration Officer, senior leadership team, and staff as needed.
Qualifications

- 2+ years of experience in office management, facilities management, operations, or a related administrative role.
- Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Outstanding customer service skills and a professional, service-oriented approach.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, work independently, and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with diverse communities and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and standard office technology.
- Experience coordinating vendors, maintenance, and facility operations preferred.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Previous experience in nonprofit organizations, athletics, recreation, sports operations, or facility management is a plus.
Salary and Benefits:
- Salary compensation range depending on experience and qualifications:$70,000 - $80,000 annually
