Valid8 Financial, Inc. is seeking a Director, Maintenance & Facilities for our Pinkerton Clubhouse in Harlem, NY. This role will lead the maintenance of our facilities across five locations, totaling 150,000 square feet.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in facilities operations, with responsibilities encompassing everything from general maintenance to ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and standards. Director, Maintenance & Facilities – Pinkerton Clubhouse – Harlem, NY

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Director, Maintenance & Facilities at our new Pinkerton Clubhouse in Harlem, NY.

The Director, Maintenance & Facilities is responsible for leading the organization’s facilities maintenance by all trades, facilities scheduling, day to day custodial and service operations, information technology systems for operations, preventive maintenance, energy and utilities systems, recycling and waste management, event services, grounds maintenance, and facility condition assessment and tracking.

The Director, Maintenance & Facilities oversees operational and maintenance functions for the organization consisting of 5 buildings totaling 150,000 square feet of space in Harlem, Bronx, and Brooklyn, New York. This full-time position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and leads a team of non-exempt employees.

A broad range of servicesareprovided by Facilities department to support the organization including facility maintenance by all trades, facilities scheduling, day to day custodial and service operations, preventive maintenance, energy and utility systems, recycling and waste management, event services, grounds maintenance, and facility condition assessment and tracking.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Related functions, which require close coordination with this department, are safety and security; planning, designandconstruction of capital and maintenance projects including major repairs, renovation and new construction.

  • Collaborate and supervise as necessary architects, staff consultants, contractors and vendors in the development and design of new projects.
  • Actively involved in investigating, evaluating, and recommending new materials, systems, equipment and processes which may benefit the institution including the development and implementation of sustainable initiatives with respect to energy, water, materials, and management.
  • Prepares and manages Facilities annual operating budget.
  • Prepares Capital Improvement Schedule.
  • Assess the staffing levels and competencies needed to ensure sufficient care of facilities as well as mentor and coach direct reports, establish staff development plans and ensure compliance with production goals.
  • Develop and maintain computer databases as needed for reports and preventive maintenance and scheduled replacement of equipment and building systems.
  • Develop and manage operational and project budgets as well as vendor and service contracts; prepare cost and time estimates and manage all aspects of assigned projects; coordinating with the other departments to evaluate, analyze and implement improvements for organization services and develop metrics to assess performance against established benchmarks.
  • Ensure a safe working environment; coordinate and implement training programs and ensure compliance with established federal, state, and local standards and codes related to facilities services.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
  • Experience in an afterschool, club or educational setting.
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local building standards and codes; as well as knowledge of OSHA compliance regulations.
  • Must have general knowledge in operation and maintenance of buildings and building systems to include: building envelope, HVAC, generators, plumbing, electrical systems, security systems, etc.
  • Must have experience with development of capital and facilities operations budgets and capital replacement and renewal planning and scheduling.
  • Must have knowledge of inventory and equipment management
  • Must have knowledge and experience with facilities-related contracts and bidding practices
  • Must be able to read blueprints, as-built mechanical and construction drawings. CAD abilities preferred.
  • Must demonstrate excellent attention to details; must be able to handle multiple projects independently; must be able to analyze complex requests and requirements and make effective recommendations and proposed solutions.
  • Must have well-developed problem-solving skills and ability to develop conceptual alternatives.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills.
  • Must demonstrate competency in verbal and written English skills including grammar.
  • Must demonstrate commitment to team-oriented style and team building skills.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to develop collaborative relationships with a diverse group including administrators, staff, and youth members.
  • Must have personnel management skill and experience in a supervisory role of multiple staff or related team members.
  • Must be proficient in using a Windows Operating System as well as Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.) and facilities management software.
  • Must be available to address after hours’ emergencies when necessary.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently; possess excellent organizational and delegation skills.
